Why I Created RoboDebit

I’ve been working in accounting since before there was the internet, and though I have seen some big steps in automation, I am still stunned by the amount of work it takes to get ALL the transactions and ALL the adjustments into an accounting system on a timely basis. Many of the automations that were promised over the last three decades just don’t live up to their promises.

And many solutions try to attack every automation problem in accounting, with mixed results.

So I focused on one very specific problem.

Why did I have to “look up” the balance in the accounting system, compute a number with a calculator, and then enter the journal entry into the same accounting system?

Yes, I could use recurring transactions, but by posting a constant amount each period, I wasn’t solving my problem, was I?

So RoboDebit was born out of frustration with having to manually do something that seemed silly to me.

If you have any clients that you perform monthly accounting work for, I highly recommend connecting RoboDebit to automate those month-end (or daily or weekly) journal entries that vary based on an account balance.
